Updated 2025-Jan-26 This list is out of date and no longer maintained. There is a far better resource for this now and has more subject matter areas than just #Infosec. These are sort of the equivilent of “starter packs” on BlueSky, but for Mastodon. Visit Mastodon Migration for more information.
Hi everyone, as promised here is my preliminary, curated lists of interesting Information Security and Technical Press contacts identities on Mastodon. Please note the following truths:
- These lists are incomplete
- These lists are only up to date as of the date in the filenames
- These lists are not meant to exclude any particular securiy celebrities, rock stars, losers or anyone else. They are only my personal list of people posting mostly interesting and accurate security content that I personally have stumbled upon
- If you think they are crap, make your own list and share it
- I intend to keep it up to date on a semi-regular basis depending on the continued growth of the platform and my ability to find time to manually curate it
I think this is a great starting point for people new to Mastodon to kickstart their information security follower list. I envision as a way to import it in bulk and then slowly unfollow those you don’t wish to continue to consume. It is easy to add to your existing follow list if you choose, without manually cutting and pasting content.
Simply go to your Settings -> Import and Export -> Import. Be sure to choose “Following list” in the dropdown and double-check that you have the Merge radio button selected so it does not overwrite your existing Following list. Browse to the downloaded CSV and press UPLOAD.
